A Bible-based science and nature study curriculum

Eden's Table is a full 36-week year of botany, plant identification and careful observation for kindergarten through second grade. Each week centers on one plant, and reading, writing, math, history, geography and art are woven into the study of it.

What the child does

Across 36 weeks and 180 planned lessons, a child studies one plant a week. She observes it, draws and labels it, measures and records what she sees, and learns its common and botanical names. By the end of the year she has a dated notebook in her own handwriting that doubles as a portfolio for homeschool records. Every lesson is written at two depths, so a younger and an older child can work the same week at the same table.

What the parent needs

No background in the subject. The read-alouds are scripted, the discussion questions are written, and the supply list for each week is already made.

A week at a glance

  • Monday. A read-aloud story opens the week, along with the week's Scripture memory verse.
  • Tuesday. Discovery and nature observation. The child studies the week's plant up close, draws it and labels it.
  • Wednesday. Hands-on kitchen science. The child measures, observes and records, using common kitchen ingredients families already have.
  • Thursday. History, geography and art, all carried by the same plant.
  • Friday. The garden, and a review of everything the week covered.

Faith content

This is a Christian curriculum, and the faith content is part of its structure. Each week is anchored in a Scripture memory verse (NASB, used with permission), and every lesson connects the week's plant to God's design in creation. Families looking for a secular program should know this before they buy.
